After a story about Maura Isles it is all about Jane Rizzoli in this instalment of the Rizzoli & Isles series.
In Boston’s Chinatowwn the police find the hand of a John Doe, cut off by an unknown swordsman who apparently vanished into the night without anybody seeing him. And it seems as if this murder is connected to an assassination 19 years ago when 4 people got killed in a Chinese restaurant. What happened to the relatives of the victims, especially their daughters? And who is this almost invisible killer who even saves the life of Jane while she is in pursue of another killer?
The second intriguing character is the mother of a girl that disappeared two years before the killing in the restaurant. The mother’s husband got killed in the assassination, too, but she has never believed that the official version was true and the Chinese cook who was in the States illegally, killed all those people.
This story is a real page-turner and the characters are very compelling and convincing. The only pity is that Maura has just a minor part in this story. I miss her and hope she’ll be back big time in the next thriller of Gerritsen’s hand.
